Subsequent tests failed to detect it in cutaneous wart specimens from 119 patients, including both butchers and immunosuppressed patients. These latter were included in the study on the basis of HPV29's similarity to members of the group including HPV10 and HPV3, which are frequently detected in such patients. It thus seems to be a relatively uncommon member of this group (Favre et al., J. Virol. 63, 4906). Cloned HPV29 DNA was obtained from the Papillomavirus Reference Center, Heidelberg and subsequently sequenced by Dr. H. Delius.
