Subsequent tests revealed it to be present in 7 of 130 butchers suffering from warts, in 3 of 66 wart patients and in 1 of 55 immunosuppressed patients. It has been detected in flat warts and intermediate warts. It is most closely related to HPV3 and HPV10. Cloned HPV28 DNA was obtained from the Papillomavirus Reference Center, Heidelberg and subsequently sequenced by Dr. H. Delius.
