XX   HPV-55 was first isolated from a penile condyloma acuminata. 
XX   Cloned HPV-55 DNA was obtained from the Papillomavirus Reference 
XX   Center, Heidelberg and subsequently sequenced by Dr. H. Delius 
XX   over the L1 MY09/MY11 segment.  HPV-55 and the several other HPV 
XX   types recently sequenced over the MY09/MY11 primer region by Dr. 
XX   Delius were used as type-specific probes to screen DNA for novel 
XX   genital HPV types.  The screened DNA was obtained from four recent 
XX   epidemiological studies.  Primer regions are annotated in the
XX   sequence; information in this region is not accurate due to primer
XX   degeneracy.
